๐ŸŒ Hawassa Childrenโ€™s Organization โ€“ Community Support Programs

At Hawassa Childrenโ€™s Organization, our mission extends beyond institutional care. We are committed to uplifting vulnerable members of our community through a range of targeted support initiatives that strengthen families, empower women, and invest in future generations.

๐Ÿ’ช Family Strengthening Program

Launched in 2015, this initiative was created to address the pressing needs of societyโ€™s most vulnerableโ€”elderly citizens, persons with disabilities, single mothers, and financially disadvantaged university students.

Our objective is to improve quality of life and reduce poverty in alignment with the national growth and transformation goals. Over the next two years, the program will directly support 556 individuals and indirectly benefit 2,780 people, reaching a total of 3,336 community members.

๐Ÿ‘ต Elderly Support Program

We support 50 elderly individuals (40 women and 10 men) who live in extreme poverty and lack family support.

Services include:

  • Monthly financial assistance
  • Medical care and supervision
  • Provision of clothing, blankets, and basic necessities
  • Regular home visits by a dedicated nurse and social worker

โ™ฟ Support for Persons with Disabilities

We advocate for inclusivity and dignity for all. Our support reaches 6 individuals (1 woman and 5 men), including:

  • 4 blind students in elementary and secondary schools
  • 2 physically disabled beneficiaries

Support includes:

  • Monthly financial aid
  • Medical assistance and counseling
  • Ongoing supervision and care

๐ŸŽ“ University Student Sponsorship Program

We believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Our sponsorship program supports 14 university students from low-income backgrounds, ensuring they can complete their higher education without financial barriers.

Support provided:

  • Monthly financial assistance until graduation
  • Academic follow-up and personal counseling

Since its start in 2016, this program has helped many young people graduate and become self-reliant members of society.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Single Mothersโ€™ Empowerment Program

This program targets 160 single mothers raising 280 children, aiming to prevent abandonment and neglect through economic empowerment.

Objectives:

  • Provide monthly financial assistance
  • Improve food security and healthcare access
  • Empower women economically and socially
  • Encourage school enrollment for all children
  • Enhance womenโ€™s participation in income-generating and social activities

๐Ÿ  Support for Homeless Young Women and Teen Girls

In regions where poverty and cultural practices often marginalize girls, we offer a lifeline for homeless young women and their children.

Over a two-year period, the program will support 30 young women and 30 children.

Support includes:

  • Temporary housing, nutritious food, clothing
  • Healthcare and counseling services
  • Access to formal education
  • Vocational and skills training (e.g., hairdressing, food prep, traditional coffee sales)
  • Business startup assistance, coaching, and savings group access

Each year, 15 young women and 15 children will benefit from this holistic program designed to help them rebuild their lives with dignity and opportunity.

By investing in these community-based initiatives, Hawassa Childrenโ€™s Organization is committed to transforming lives and building a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Join us in supporting these vital programs. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
